- No baptism or marriage record of his is found in Downton or anywhere
else to date, the parish registers not surviving prior to 1602. Nicholas
is known from the will of his father, as well as the
baptism records of ten of his children in Downton, including "Roger
Eastman, the sonne of Nicholas Eastman of Charleton was baptized the 4th of Aprill
[1610]"
- His wife's last name was said to be "possibly Rooke" in early 20th
century works, but with no backing evidence as to why this was believed.
She is recorded in the church register buried July 8, 1625.
