Notes:
-Mistakingly referred to as "Matthew" at times because his name was
twice recorded this way in New England, but it is clear these are in
error and he is referred to much more frequently as Macuth and
variations thereof (Machute, Maicut).
-Mentioned by Rev Cother Mather as a very religious man.
-Immigrated about 1637/1638 to New England, and made freeman May 13,
1640.
-He is mentioned in the Will of his father, Thomas Pratt, shearman,
proved 1616. Thomas left a flock bed, a coverlet, a pair of sheets,
and 'the fine holland sheet' to his wife, but the rest of his estate he
left to his
son Macute who was sole executor. Thomas Pratt was buried Oct 2, 1616
in Aston Clinton
-About ten miles distant from Aston Clinton, was married in June
1593 a Thomas Pratt and Elizabeth Hunt who is a good candidate to be his
mother.
-A Macuth Pratt died in Aston Clinton in 1607 who is likely either
his grandfather or an uncle.
