Notes:
-Original Civil Birth Registration lists that he was born on Maghull Street in the St. Thomas district in Liverpool, Lancashire, England. It lists his parents as "John Rowe" and "Mary Conden".
-Baptized St. Peter's Priory, April 14th, 1839
-1841 Census lists Robert "Row" with his family on Maghull Street in Liverpool. He is listed as 3 years old, with both his parents John and Mary (who were born Ireland), and many siblings.
-1851 Census has the family moved to 11 White Street in Liverpool, and his mother is listed as widowed with the occupation of "Hawker".
-Robert's age on the 1851 census and many records beyond state his age as if he was born about 1841, not 1839. It is possible there were two Robert's born to this couple John Roe and Mary Condon of Liverpool, and that the first died young, and a second took the same name. Although the 1870 census lists him age 43. (born about 1837)
-Robert's brother Edward had immigrated to the US in 1857.
-1864: Moved to Massachusetts by this time. Marriage Certificate lists his occupation as "Engineer" born England, and his wife's name as "Mary Keane" born Ireland. Mary's first husband was "Cain" not "Krane". Both listed as from Brookline. Robert's parents named as "John & mary Condon Roe".
-1865: In the 1865 Masschusetts State Census living in Roxbury near his brother Edward. States he was born England.
-1866: Listed as "Machinist" in Boston directory living on Rockingham Place.
-1868: Listed as "Machinist" in Boston directory living on Rockingham place.
-1870 Census in Boston with wife, and two step children from Wife's first marriage, and two children of his own. He is living in a different part of Boston, and his brother Edward has relocated near him again
-1880 Census lists that his parents were both born in Ireland. He is living at 17 Rockingham Place. His step son James Cain is now living with Robert's brother Edward. Edward's death certificate gives parents full names "John Roe / Mary Condon" and his birthplace in Liverpool.
-There is a Robert Roe in the 1890 Boston Directory (representing residents in 1889)
