Edward Stolark was born in Marysville, Michigan and delivered by his aunt's husband Obstetrician Dr. Rudy Licker. He moved around frequently as a young child due to his father's work, living in Kilgore, Texas; Longview, Texas; Houston, Texas; New Orleans, LA; and Brunswick, Georgia before turning 2 years old. Then Washington, D.C, and by age 4 living in Ponca City, Oklahoma where his father was an accountant working in the oil industry, and then as government oversight. In February 1943, age 4 he is listed in the Oklahoma newspaper as a guest at a friend's 4 year old birthday party. By October 1944, the family had moved to Arlington, Virginia; and by 1948 his father was working for Price Electric Cooper as an accountant, and living in Glen Burnie, Maryland. His parents relationship was full of turmoil, and he spent long periods of time in Marysville, Michigan as a child with his mother where she had family and worked for the church, Edward spending much time schooled in the church. In 1956, he graduated from St. Charles High School, Catonsville, MD and entered the catholic seminary. He graduated cum laude from St. Mary's University, Baltimore in 1960, and received his bachelors of sacred theology from the same place in 1962, cum laude. In 1963 he took a change of direction joining the Navy. He served on the USS Dyess (DD 880) from 1963-1965; the USS Basilone (DD824) 1965-1967; and the USS Wilkinson (DL 5) 1967-1969. He served much of that time as a CIC officer in the ship's command center. In September 1966 he transfered to Athens, Georgia to attend Navy Supply School, with a specialization on contracting. He was promoted to Lt. Commander in 1967, and served as fleet officer of the deck. In 1970 he was married in Rhode Island on the Naval base, and retired from active service in 1972. He remained in the reseves after that time involved in inspecting shipyard as part of the Inspector General's department. In 1979 he was promoted to Commander in the reserves. As a civilian, he focused the rest of his career on government contracting and acquisition as a civilian working Marines and Missile Defense contracts through contractor CACI International, where he served as Director of Contracts. In 1985 he graduated from the Industrial College of the Armed Forces, and in July 1986 he was promoted to Captain in the reserves. A longtime resident of Arlington, Virginia, he retired in March of 2013 from CACI after 25 years. He had a strong interest in the classics and promoting interest in Latin.
