Notes:
- John was a draper by professions (fabrics), and also served as
constable of St. Albans, Herts, England.
- Traveled to New World in 1635 on the ship "Planter". Listed as
"John Tuttell, age 39, mercer". He swore oath at St. Albans,
Hertfordshire before embarking. They departed April 10, 1635 and arrived
at Boston harbor June 7, 1635. His wife, children, mother,
mother-in-law and other relatives all sailed on the same vessel. He
appears in the town records of Ipswich
in that year, and was made a freeman March 13, 1639. A representitive in
1644. Later, in 1652, he traveled to Ireland at a time when teh residents
of New Haven were negotiating for a purchase there. Once in Ireland, he decided
to remain there until his death. His wife joined him in Ireland later.
