Notes:
-Church Marriage Record lists witnesses as Sebastian Blank and Violet Husband. Priest: Rev. George A Carrel.
-Baptisms for their children list sponsors, including Edward McManus, Joanna Holland, Jeremiah Callahan, and Maria Ann PetitdeMange.
-Worked for the DuPont Company.
-Legend is that he came to America to flee prosecution after killing a
British Official. Perhaps this refers to his father, Patrick. In the
records of the Brandywine Manufacturer's Sunday School are recorded
Michael Callahan, 13 years old, son of Patrick Callahan, a Catholic
working for DuPont as a Powderman, and his wife Marie PetitDeMange. The
notation in both their student records notes their marriage to each other
in "September 1832". Patrick first appears in the employment records of
the Dupont company in July 1822. It is not clear who Michael's mother is,
but a "Francis Callahan, wife of Patrick" died age 68 in Brandywine in
1846.

-The Ann M Callahan listed as a child in the census with this family
is probably a niece, the niece mentioned in Mary Petitdemange Callahan's
will. Also, she is enrolled in the school records with her "grandfather
Patrick Callaghan" listed instead of her parents, they presumably having
died.
- His father is listed in Wilmington in the 1850 census living age
77 with his son Denis and family. His other son Jeremiah is also listed living
with them.
