Notes:
-From "Genealogical and Family History of the State of New Hampshire" : He was a yeoman, a man of property and among his possessions was a Negro slave, named Lot. He succeeded his father as a member of the committee for the control of the common lands of the town. His efficient leadership in the Indian Wars did much to prevent savage outrages.
-Inherited the Ayer homestead from his father, as the only surviving son of his father. Descendants continued to live there into the 20th century at 621 Washington Street in Haverhill.
-Referred to as Samuel Ayers, Jr, to distinguish him from his first cousin Captain Samuel Ayer (1654-1708)
