Notes:
-"The American Genealogist" v.19, p100 gives the fact that he came from Salisbury, MA to Weare in 1765, and was a Colonel in the Revolution. He served as a private in 1760 in an expedition into Canada, under Colonel Goff. He was selected as a field officer near the very start of the Revolutionary War in 1775. He served as a Liutenant through the Revolutionary War, and then appointed Lt. Colonel Dec 22, 1786.
-He was sued at one point by John Stitson, yeoman for the payment of a debt (Oesterlin, NH Court Records, page 300.).
-Was one of many who signed a letter to militia leaders sept 15, 1775 upset about the selection of officers. No rank listed for nathanel at this time, listed from town of Wear.
-History of Were, pg 233, At 1780 town meeting, chose Capt. George Hadley, Capt. Nathaniel Fifield, and Lieut. Ithamar Eaton a committee to hire the men (as soldiers). Capt. Hadley advanced their pay and the town later repayed him in paper currency 1056 pounds. There is a record of a promissory note for John Colby's note signed by Hadley and Fifield.
-His will is File 03262 in Hillsboro county.
-He is buried in Sugar Hill Cemetery in East Weare, Hillsborough, N.H
-"Royal Families, Americans of Royal and Noble Ancestry, Vol 1" lists Nathaniel Fifield as the descendant of Governor Thomas Dudley, who himself is descended from King Edward I of England.
