-Robert arrived from England before 1639; possibly he traveled to
assist John Winthrop at the salt works. One reference states "Mr.
Winthrop (jr.) also erected a dwelling-house on his land and lived there
at times with his employee, Robert Hebard, his salt maker." In 1646 he is
recorded at Salem
"Rob't Hebbert and Joanna his wife" admitted to communion May 6, 1646. By
1659 he is described as "Robert Hibbird, bricklayer" in a land purchase in
Salem. The inventory at the time of his estate was 281 pounds. His will
was dated April 9, 1684 and he leaves property to his wife and children.
He lived in the part of Salem which became Beverly, Massachusetts.
-He is an ancestor of Lady Princess Diana Spencer through his son
Robert.
