Notes:

In New Haven by 1643, he got in early trouble with the law. He started a love affair with Rebecca Turner after her father had died at sea. He was called before the court for "to answer to their sinful miscarriage in matter of fornication, with sundry lies added thereto by them both in a gross and heinous manner. " He admitted his crimes, and was sentenced to a severe whipping, in addition to a five pound fine. Very shortly following, he was married to Rebecca. They were back in court again later for spending long nights drinking and feasting with the servants of their neighbor. The servants were stealing food, including a cow and bringing it to the Mix household at night to eat. Rebecca was also accused of acting unladylike by staying up with the two male servants after her husband went to bed for the night. The Mix's denied that they knew the cow was stolen; but were then asked how they didn't suspect the cow was stolen when it arrived with its ears and identifying marks severed. They had no response to this, and were fined twenty pounds. Eventually, the Mix family fortunes turned, and he served as Constable and Fence Viewer (land surveyor). Their wealth increased substantially, with many of hs sons becoming Yale graduates. Thomas died near 70 years old, and his wife lived to great old age; around 100 years.
