-Elder William Pratt was an important early citizen of New England.
In 1695, there was organized a group of eight settlers to start a new
settlement in South Carolina, and William Pratt was part of this group.
William was originally of Weymouth before moving to Dorchester in 1695.
He kept a journal of his voyage from Boston to South Carolina which still
survives which also includes notes for a few years following the voyage.
In February 1696 he returned to Boston, and then back to South Carolin in
