Wife: Sibyl Gay b.1742 On June 14, 1772, 'Ephraim Stephens & his wife being dismissed from & recommended by ye Chh in Holden were admitted admitted to our COmmunion" (Ch Rec) In 1798 he and his wife were dismissed from the First Church to the church in the West Precinct. He was a sargeant in th Needham company of minute men April 19, 1775, served near Boston in 1777 and 1778, and received from the town for services in the war, L6, 13s 4d. (T Rec, Vol III, p155) There is a SAR marker on his grave. In 1776 he was a constable and a surveyor of highways, and in 1777 tythingman. In 1790 and '94-95 he was on the committee of the West Precinct. His will is dated July 13, 1803, and he mentions 'Sibble my beloved wife', sons Ephraim, Abijah, Joseph, Samuel,Charles, Silas, Abel, daus. Sarah Morse, Sibble Dudley, Phebe Flagg, and Susanna Harris. Mr. Stevens owned (inventory) 77 acres of land. In the church records I find the following : bapt Aug 28, 1774, "Sibill Daughter of Ephraim Stephens."
