-Went to Kaskaskia, IL and then to Pike County around Oct 1827. His home in Pike Co was a place on the ATLAS preaching circuit, where a number of pioneer ministers preached.
-He held several civil and military offices, and was highly respected

"Estate Cha's Stratton Public notice is hereby given, that on the first Tuesday of February next, we shall attend before the Probate Justice of the Peace of Pike County, at his office in Pittsfield, at ten o'clock a.m. for the purpose of settling and adjusting all claims against the estate of Cha's Stratton, late of this county, deceased; when and where all claimants are required to present their demands for adjustment. HISTORY OF KINDERHOOK TOWNSHIP The first settlers in Kinderhook Township were David Cold, Bird Brewer, Mr. Lyle, Amasa Shinn, Thomas McCraney, James Hull, Charles Smith, Charles and James Stratton, C. Devol, Thomas Orr and others. Reverend Hunter of the Methodist denomination preached the first sermon in the home of Charles Stratton in 1830. The first school house was built on Section 10 in 1833 and was used for both church and school.

William Ross, in addition to his county offices, was also the early postmaster at Atlas, for some time the only post town in what is now Pike. At a later period and up to 1833, when a post office was established in the new county seat town of Pittsfield, there was a post office at Clio, at Charles Stratton's house, and one at Bay, south of modern Pleasant Hill.
