Notes:
-Immigrated in 1630, possibly on the Arabella. He became a freeman on May 18, 1631 Watertown, and served as Selectman in 1635 and 1639. He was on a committee to lay highways in 1635, and a committee to divide land 1648. He was frequently cited for minor church offenses such as missing church without excuse, and not kneeling at communiion.
-He could not sign his own name, but did have a fair amount of wealth in Massachusetts. At his death his estate consisted of 123 Pounds worth of real estate, a silver spoon, a bible, and other items, including a sword, musket and halberd.
-In his will, he left to his son Daniel the "parcell of land that he now lives on" a total of 16 acres, and divided the rest of his land between his two sons Daniel and John. He also left his son Daniel his "best flock bed and my green rug" and "two of my four pewter platters". He also left to Daniel's daugher Mary "one pewter porriger" and 2s 6d money.
-The name of his wife is unknown. She is not the Margaret Bayly Fowle frequently assigned in genealogies. That Margaret Bayly lived quite distant from Nayland and was much older.
