-Some sources mistakingly give Nathaniel Cowdery as Mary's father, but the Reading vital records are clear. Some also give her mother's name as Elizabeth Parker, but this appears nowhere in the vital records. Samuel's brother nathaniel married an Elzabeth Parker, and they could not have been married to the same person, as both Samuel's wife Elizabeth, and Nathaniel's wife Elizabeth had children at the same time.
